Helping our manufacturer and distributor clients succeed has long been a cornerstone of our practice at Miles & Stockbridge P.C. We provide a wide spectrum of services to clients in these important industries and the depth of our practice in these industries enables us to have a clear understanding of their business strategies and legal needs. Our lawyers combine extensive industry knowledge with sound business advice and skilled legal counsel in their roles as trusted advisors to our clients. We work to ensure that our clients reach their business objectives, using the full resources of the firm to provide timely, practical, effective and cost-efficient guidance.
We maintain trusted advisor relationships with clients in these industries ranging from locally-based operations to globe-spanning industry giants manufacturing and distributing consumer and industrial products. Our clients in these industries benefit from the abilities of lawyers and other Firm colleagues across all of our substantive area practices.
A number of our clients in the manufacturing and distribution industries are regular buyers and sellers of businesses in the U.S. and abroad, and are counseled by our mergers and acquisitions practitioners. We advise clients on the legal and business issues involved with raising capital through equity and debt offerings and facilities. We support clients in their commercial contacting practices, developing forms and negotiating contracts with suppliers, distributors and end-customers for local, national and international transactions. We collaborate with our clients in the procurement, management and maximization of the value of intellectual property (IP) through transactions that involve IP of all types and we have defended our clients’ IP rights in courts around the country and the world. In all of these matters, we provide advice in critical complementary areas such as antitrust compliance and tax planning.
We assist our clients in meeting their needs in the full range of management-side labor and employment practices matters, including both counseling and litigation, and we also assist our clients in the design and administration of benefit, health and welfare plans.
Our litigators have extensive experience in complex matters, having tried hundreds of cases at all levels of state and federal courts and in commercial arbitrations throughout the mid-Atlantic region and many other jurisdictions around the country. We offer our clients the services of practices focused on specific litigation concerns, including commercial and business disputes involving contractual issues, business torts, trade practices and regulation disputes, alternative dispute resolution, bankruptcy and creditors' rights, mass torts and product liability.
In practice areas such as products liability and mass torts, we serve as national coordinating counsel for a number of our manufacturer clients, and provide related broad-based risk management and regulatory counsel, such as before the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission.
While we are proud of our substantive expertise and negotiating and tactical skills, we recognize that our profession has many skilled practitioners. We believe we are distinguished by our heightened focus on understanding our clients’ businesses and strategies, listening to their goals and objectives and working collaboratively to deliver holistic services tailored to help our clients meets those goals and objectives.
To ensure that we continue to develop the resources and expertise necessary to maintain and grow our diverse practice representing manufacturers and distributors, we have established an internal team we call MAD·IT.
